top 10 reasons i love you

1/11/10

This is a fun little craft that can be used as a gift for anyone you love! I am planning to make one for each of my kids to give to them for Valentines Day.

Here is what you need:

-Chipboard (aka Cereal Box) cut into your favorite shape. Michaels has an entire 5-page album in their dollar bins right now in some fun shapes, complete with that metal ring thingy that binds them together. (Why can I not think of the name of it? "Thingy" will have to do!)

- X-Acto Knife & Scissors

- Glue stick

- Fun paper

- Embellishments (ribbon, stickers, distressing ink, markers etc.)

*I didn't end up using the Mod Podge, as pictured here.

Directions:

1. Place a generous amount of glue onto your chipboard.
(Did I mention your kids can make these? Here is Leah helping me with mine!)

2. Place your chipboard onto the backside of your scrapbook paper, glue side down. Press firmly to adhere and smooth out any air bubbles you might get. Let dry completely or your paper will rip in the next step.

3. Using your knife, cut the scrapbook paper around the outside of your shape.

4. Embellish your book to your liking.
I printed out the 10 reasons I love my husband and then cut them out and distressed the paper's edges. I added ribbons and buttons and tried to make it as "manly" as I can- but lets be honest, Valentines Day is a girly holiday, and my paper was pink and red- how manly could I be, right?

5. Stack all your pages ontop of each other, bind with the metal ring and add some ribbon for some added cuteness.

...and you're done! Easy easy!

That is stinking cute! I totally love it. I have some flower shaped ones that I bought there along time ago. I might just have to make (or have my daughter) make one

I just made a Michael's run after seeing this and I love it. I found some of the circles, a butterfly, fish and flowers too. I also picked up an apple so we could make one for our preschool teacher as part of her end of year gift. The best part though? I also found some gingerbread men that were on clearance for a quarter! I'll be using them to list all of our 25 Days of Christmas Activities.

Loved your idea. Loved your list...especially #10! Your husband must feel loved by you. Wouldn't it be great if all marriages were that happy?

Found your blog from u create-and I am so glad that I did! I am loving this 10 reasons books. These are perfect for my 3 girlies to send to great grammies. Great little book to keep in your purse as well. Maybe I will make one for me, my sweet hubby would so not appreciate it. I don't think he would whip it out to show his buddies how cute his wife is :)
Thanks for the inspiration! I will be back to see what other fun things you have to do!
Please, stop by and say hello.

Very cute idea and such a special way to tell someone how much you love them. Love that you used a cereal box too:) I have a package of those rings, from the office store, they're labled ring binders. Real technical:) I think jump rings are most times smaller and flimsier as they are meant to be pried open for jewelry making. You can use them for binding things but you have to be sure you manually over lap the sides.
