Better Homes and Gardens State Fragrance Contest

Last month I was asked to represent the state of Arizona in the Better Homes and Gardens State Fragrance Contest. They asked me to mix and match Better Homes and Gardens wax cube scents to create a unique fragrance that best represents my home state.

{FYI, These wax cubes are my favorite! I have tried probably a dozen of the different scents over the past couple years and there is only 1 or 2 that I don’t LOVE! So I was totally on board with this challenge! For more info about these wax cubes and why I love them, read the bottom of this post.}

Anyway, to be chosen for this was an amazing opportunity and I was excited to go head-to-head with 50 other bloggers (they included someone from DC) and come up with something great that “shows off” the state of Arizona.

I immediately went to Facebook and asked my readers: “What do you think of when you think of Arizona?” and their responses went wayyyy beyond what I was thinking (hot, dessert, cactus- not the prettiest of images, right?) so I was thrilled with their creativity and based on their recommendations, here is what I came up with:

Name of Scent: Sunrise Canyon

Scents Used: Lemongrass Verbena & Wildberry Cheesecake

Description of Scent: I was born and raised in Southern California and I have traveled to many countries all over the world. But never have I seen a more beautiful sunset than those in the current state in which I reside- Arizona! Anyone who has ever visited this great state will agree, Arizona skies are amazing- they are beautiful and often breath-taking! Arizona is also the home of one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world- the beautiful Grand Canyon. When choosing a scent for the great state of Arizona, I went with something clean and fresh (Lemongrass Verbena) and mixed it with something fruity and delicious (Wildberry Cheesecake). Arizona skies, specifically the colorful sunsets, are just that- clean, fresh & breathtakingly delicious!

So here is where it gets exciting! My “scent” is on the BHG Facebook page right now and viewers get to vote for their favorite scent. Whichever participating blogger generates the most votes (on Facebook) by August 31 will get to host a giveaway for 10- $25 gift cards! PLUS, 10 randomly selected voters will be chosen to win a Wax Warmer and a 6-pack of Wax Cubes!

1. Visit the Better Homes and Gardens Facebook Page. If you don’t “like” the FB page already, click “Like” then click the “Sweepstakes” link.

2. From here, you will see a map of the US- scroll over the state of AZ and click the link to “Vote Now”

3. This will bring up the official voting page. Fill out the info and click “VOTE NOW” at the bottom. You can choose to sign up for email updates, but you don’t have to.

AND THAT IS IT!

Once your vote is placed, it will bring you to a screen showing the top 3 states with the most votes.

Here is some more info about the wax cubes and BHG warmers.

I’ve tried other brands- lot’s of other brands, actually. The cheap ones that smell great in the package don’t smell at all when they melt, or they don’t smell good when they melt. The good ones that do make your house smell wonderful can be pretty pricey. The Better Homes and Gardens Wax Melts are the best of both worlds- they smell fantastic, they can make your whole house smell great- not just the small space by the warmer, and they have some scents that are super yummy! I love the fall scents with cinnamon or pumpkin, but the fresh citrus scents are also great for the summer time.

These melts and warmers are available exclusively at WalMart- the wax warmers are just $15 and the cubes are available in packs of 6 scented wax cubes and the ones I get are usually around $2 a pack, so you really can fill your home with your favorite fragrance, for less! They are safe to use with no flame or soot and are fragrant immediately upon melting!
