Yep, things change around here all.the.time. What can I say, I get bored with the same old look! My new best friend Tanya, from Wimzie Prints, designed that cute logo at the top of my blog and I have then been busy matching the look of my blog to the look of the new logo. New simple template, new colors, new buttons and labels… everything is fresh and everything is new and I am loving the way it has all come together!
It was almost unintentional how it all happened- I was meaning to take it slow and have it designed either by me or a professional to match something I really loved, but then a near catastrophe happened:
I was super anxious to start using the cute logo from Tanya, but unsure of the template I wanted to use. At 10pm Sunday night, I set up a fake blog to try to play around with different templates and colors and things. I was having fun with the fake blog, uploading and changing things around, making a complete mess of images and widget locations until I realized somehow I got into the dashboard of this site and was making a huge mess of somewhatsimple.com! Oops! Sorry for those “16 people browsing” that probably were so confused that night! So in a panic, I uploaded the most recent template I had just found and I worked on it til 1:30am and went to bed so sleepy, but very happy with the new look!
I can’t say things won’t ever change on here again- come on, this is me we are talking about!- but the basic look and feel will be the same so my readers won’t feel like they just walked into the men’s bathroom- you know the feeling, “Where the heck am I and why are there urinals in here?” Its confusing at first (and then embarrassing, right?) and you never want to go back or see the people who saw your confused faces. I don’t want that in my blog- I want you to be familiar with somewhat simple and recognize it wherever you might see me featured and I want you to come back!
With that said, I will probably change the header on occasion to match a season or holiday- since I have already received a dozen emails asking me where the St. Patricks Day header is! lol! It will be a fun, occasional change- nothing drastic though, I promise!
Have you seen the links from Queen of the Castle at the SYS Thursday link parties? Her posts were some of my favorite, so I began to follow her and soon discovered she is a graphic designer with some great ideas. Shay, the Queen herself, is also the creator of the fantastic site Dumplin Design Studio.
