Calling all Bloggers!!!

The very first blogging conference I ever went to was Bloggy Boot Camp in Phoenix, AZ. {Read all about how stinkin’ fun it was on my post right HERE. }

At the time that I went to Bloggy Boot Camp, I had about 1,000 followers and I was just getting to the point where I was making a little bit of money from sidebar advertising and sponsored posts. I felt like I was moving in the right direction in growing my blog, but it was still a guessing game for me and I didn’t know what to do next.

I sat in a breakout session that morning listening to and interacting with 3 panelists: Laurie, Marlynn, and Lisa. These women gave tips and advice about so many blog topics- from writing a newsletter to Twitter etiquette and everything in between. They gave a short presentation with systems that work for them, and then they opened up the conversation for questions from the audience. There were only 50 or so women in this break out group and the intimate setting was something I haven’t since experienced with any other conference I’ve been too. (And I have been to a lot of GREAT conferences!)

I have to say I learned a TON at this conference- my notebook was full of things to do, sites to check out and people to contact. But I also took away from that conference something that would turn out to be even more valuable- friendships! {My husband calls them my “Virtual Friends”!}

It is true, not only did I meet some great women who think like me (like-mindedness is comforting, isn’t it?) but these women have become my good friends- women I talk with on Skype almost daily, women who are full of great ideas, women who can give advice about how to answer “that email” and women who I have collaborated with so many times…  and that is ultimately how I have grown my blog.

Bloggy Boot Camp is a jam-packed day of learning, growing and networking- and it is fabulous fun!

They have events all around the country and I would recommend this conference to every blogger out there- whether you are a crafty blogger, a food blogger, a mommy blogger or none of the above!

For those of you in the Phoenix area, Bloggy Boot Camp is coming back and this time it is going to be 2 full days! SWEET! So grab your ticket and mark your calendar for April 12-13, 2013. They’ll be at the same hotel/conference center as last time: Zona Hotel and Suites (Scottsdale). Just reading the session topics has me wanting to go so badly! See it for yourself HERE.

    Hi Stephanie, I am so glad you posted this! I actually was thinking about asking you about this. I love your blogging tips. I turned my blogspot into a .com after seeing your post on it as well and signed up for Social Spark several years ago after your posts too. Thanks for all of the info. I’m still unsure about going to these blogger conferences since I am SUCH a homebody and don’t even care to go to girl’s nights (I know, I’m nuts). I am hesitant to put anymore time into my blog since my main focus is being a stay at home mom, but I think I may have to check out this one next year (it is already full, but I put my name on the waiting list).

    Have a great day!

      Brandy, if you ever decide to try one- this is the one to try because they are local, so you don’t have to take too much time (or money) from your family. I would absolutely recommend these conferences to all bloggers- if nothing else, it will equip you with more info on how to balance blogging and being a mom. I’m a mom first too- most important thing in my life. Blogging is just fun and if I can keep it fun but make a bit of money off of it, that is even better! :) But as soon as it infringes on my “family time” (which it has at times, I won’t lie!) that is when it becomes too stressful and not fun anymore. I appreciate you being such a loyal fun of my site! Best of luck!

    Hi Steph! I’ll be at BBC Phoenix this year and am especially excited that the conference is limited to under 200 attendees. Will you be there?

      Yes- the closeness of the group is far more appealing, and WAY less intimidating! I won’t be there this year ’cause I am going out of town the week after that and I can’t take that much time away from my family.
