Hey there Somewhat Simple Readers!
I’m Kristyn, and I blog over at Lil’ Luna. I’ve tried to make it a place where anyone could come to find recipes, tutorials, printables, ideas and more for any and all occasions. Come check it out!
I’m so happy to be here as part of Steph’s “Summer of Service.”
What a great idea, right? I don’t know about you but it’s sometimes hard to think about service during this HOT and BUSY
{more like CRAZY since the kiddos are home} time of year. But that’s NO excuse, especially because there are SOO many people {family, friends, neighbors, even strangers} who are silently suffering because of these hard economic times.
To get the kids more involved, I tried to think about the times our family has had most fun serving, and I immediately thought of Christmas. It’s so easy and fun to think of others during the holidays, so I wanted to share with you an idea I came up with.
I thought it would be great to assemble some Summer Goodies and deliver them to a family in need of some “Christmas in July” Cheer. It can be done anonymously or any way you’d like, but I knew that something simple like this {all bought for under $10} could make someone’s day or even week!
SUPPLIES:
-Pail and Shovel
-Water Balloons
-Water Guns
-Candy
-Kool-Aid Packets
-Chalk
-Bubbles
-Christmas in July Tag
It didn’t require a lot {one trip to Wal-Mart}, but doing something fun like this will show the kiddos how important and fun it is to serve others! PLUS, I know that if we think of others and strive to serve those around us more, not only will we make others happy, but we will be more happy ourselves.
Thanks for having me, Steph, and I hope we can all strive to get into the Christmas in July Spirit by serving those around us!
XO – Kristyn
