I got one of the bazillion boxes of chocolates we got over the holidays:
This particular box I decided to use has 16 spaces for chocolate, so my countdown will be for the 16 days before V-Day. Your box might have more or less spaces, so adjust accordingly.
First, I cut some strips of Valentine-ish strips of paper and distressed the edges just a bit.
(I cut some to cover the sides of the box too)
I put a thin layer of Mod-Podge on the top and sides of the box, placed the strips over the Mod Podge and let it dry. When it was dry, I put a thin layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper.
For the next step, there are 2 options.
Option 1: I printed some fun Valentine activites off my computer and originally planned to cut the ideas in strips and fold them up, just sticking them in each slot where the chocolate once was. Here is the paper I printed out for this, and below it is one you can download if you want to do this option:
Valentine Choc Box Ideas
Option 2 is just a bit more creative than that!
I had these glass marbles just sitting around as left-overs from making some magnets a year ago, so tonight I thought I would put them to good use!
I re-formatted the Valentine activities so that they were only 1 inch wide and would fit on the glass marbles. Here is a copy of that document if you want to use it.

I cut each activity out and made sure it would fit on the marble.

That's so fun and cute! Love the paper too and the marbles option.
That's {cute}!!! LOVE the marbles! I'm going to modify the activities a little since my oldest is 3, and I want her to participate. Will let you know what I come up with
Oh my gosh I love it! My son is only 5 months so I don't think we can use it as a family this year but I'm tempted to just make it for myself!
So adorable! We don't have a chocolate box but I'll find something. Also thanks for the list of activities-we will be do this!

This is SO CUTE! What a great idea!
That's a great idea. I was just thinking we needed something else to count down to. And wow, the winner this week had over twice as many points as me. It's a little discouraging, actually.
Love it! Put a link in our post.
THanks

We've been doing countdowns to everything lately. My almost-3 year old loves it. We started with our Halloween advent calendar and right now we have Mickey ears to count down to a Disney trip next week.
Thanks for the activity list.
I've given you an award…check it out at reidgirlshandmade.blogspot.com
I love all of your ideas!
So cute!!! I love it.
Very cute idea. We love doing advents for each month! There is always something fun to be able to count down for! I love the marble ideas. Now you can save it to reuse every year! I also love that you reused the chocolate box. I always look at anything I'm about to throw away and think about all the things that I could make with it!

Ok, ok. Adorable! The kids will love the countdown, and the adults won't mind eating the chocolates so there's an empty box to do the craft with. teehee.
