One of the greatest things about having a blog is that I get to use it as a platform to promote efforts that are personal to me.
I have seen the effects of what a blog like mine can do when ordinary people like you and me unite together with a common goal.
We are all here to help each other. To offer support.
And I love that about this blogging community!
This is Holly and her little girl, Ojaio.
Holly and I have been friends since Kindergarten and I’ll never forget the first day we met- I was so excited one day after recess to finally be standing behind Holly, {the “pretty” girl} in line. Much to my disliking, another little girl came and stood right in front of me- right in between me and Holly!
I told her {in my most threatening kindergarten voice}, “no cuts!”
…to which Holly turned around and said, “But I said she could.”
I can’t remember if I stood up for myself or let the little cutter have my spot in line, but regardless, I know I didn’t stay deflated for too long because Holly and I became best friends soon after that day.
I eventually got to stand next to Holly quite often-
We swung on the swings next to each other.
We danced in the 6th grade talent show together {to En Vogue!}
We cheered on the same cheer squad, we sat next to each other in English, we did a lot of things that best friends do and she stood right beside me as the maid of honor at my wedding.
I love Holly and I am so grateful for our friendship. Even after all these years and the distance that now separates our homes- we still get together and can pick up right where we left off and laugh all afternoon!
Holly is not only a great friend, but she is also an awesome mom to this sweet little girl, Ojaio.
Ojaio is just a few months older than my little Leah.
She is smart and she is well-mannered and she is as sweet as they come {with a bit of her momma’s sass!}
Ojaio is a fighter.
And I know I don’t make the rules in this world, but I’m going to play the “that’s not fair card” right now.
It isn’t fair that this little, sweet girl has to fight so hard for something that so many of us (me included) take for granted almost everyday.
Life.
Ojaio also has Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that affects your entire life- daily treatments and medication, worry about catching the smallest of germs because of the damage it can cause to your lungs.
This devastating disease is close to my heart as I see Holly and her family fully immersed in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis, hoping to find a cure in Ojaio’s lifetime.
The thought of finding a cure seems so exciting, and so attainable.
They have made some significant improvements to medications and treatments very recently and I’m overjoyed at the idea of ridding this disease and making life just a bit more fair for Ojaio and the many other fighters with Cystic Fibrosis.
LET’S HELP!
Holly and her family will be participating in the annual Great Strides Walk in Long Beach, CA to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her team is called “Liam’s Legacy for Ojaio’s Hope” and is named after her cousin’s son Liam who lost the battle against CF as a newborn.
Holly has set a goal to raise $5,000 for this walk.
I’d like to help Holly raise $5,000 by offering a special advertising promotion right her on Somewhat Simple.

I will help spread the word. My youngest tested postive for a cystic fibrosis gene and has the chance of giving it to her future children. I am greatful everyday that she is normal and healthy. My thoughts go to your friends family.
This is one of my favorite things about the blog world too.
My younger sister was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 11 1/2 and is now 22 years old and pregnant. I was about 15 or 16 and I'm now 26. It really amazes me how often I come across a blog mentioning someone with Cystic Fibrosis or come in contact with someone that knows someone with it, now. And, I try to give to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation every chance that I get.
thanks for helping me spread the word and supporting the charity event, stephanie! you're awesome!

I love when people use their blogs to spread the word about something important to them! I'm also walking in a Great Strides walk this spring. My niece has CF and we're excited to be able to do something to help bring in donations and create awareness. Before she was born I had heard of, but didn't really know what CF was.
You are so good to do this! I have 2 young cousins with CF- in the same family- and they would love that you are doing this too!
my cousin just had her 30th birthday and she has CF!!!! she has made amazing strides the last few years and is doing quite well!
Can I just say what an awesome opportunity this is for anyone with a blog or shop that wants an Advertising spot. I paid for one and HIGHLY recommend it. For the month of May I had 140 referrals from Somewhat Simple. If I can just attract one loyal reader that is so worth it to me. Thanks so much Stephanie for this amazing and wonderful opportunity!!!!
You rock Stephanie! My cousin and first college roomate has CF. They are both alive and well due to modern medicine. Thanks for getting the word out. We’ll do all we can to help:)
