I’m sure there are quite a few people out who have had this problem: You rented a house or apartment and had to sign a pretty long lease. After living there for awhile, you either decide you need a bigger place, you got a new job that’s further away, or you just don’t like the place that much… but you’re stuck in your lease.

When my husband and I were first married, we lived in a very small apartment. It was a 1 bedroom and was perfect for us newlyweds :) After awhile of living there, we got pregnant. We had NO IDEA what to do- there was no way we had enough room for the baby. We ended up having to pay a pretty heafty fine to get out of our lease to find a new place. I wish there was something like Ditch The Space in my area at the time!

What is DitchTheSpace?

Are you stuck in an apartment or rental space? Do you need a short-term rental? Are you trying to get out of your office or retail space? DitchTheSpace.com can help you with both.

Ditch the Space is a new online marketplace that connects people that want to sublet their space to others that are looking for short-term space. The site currently has quality listings for apartments and lofts as well as office and retail space. What’s most unique about the site is that it encourages listing spaces with incentives to make them more attractive. Thus, most listings include incentives such as furniture included, plasma TV included, discounts on first months rent, free gym memberships and more- Their Ditch Is Your Gain!

(There is also a Premium Service for brokers and property managers with a Ditch Pro monthly subscription that includes unlimited listings.)

It’s super easy to sign up and start listing, OR start looking for a place to find something that’s perfect for you!

For Ditchers:

STEP 1

Sign up for Ditchthespace.com, and upload pictures and videos to generate interest on your space. You can choose to sublet or assign your space based on the terms of your lease agreement.

STEP 2

Receive inquiries from other users who are interested in your space. Arrange a showing, or exchange additional details about your space.

STEP 3

Negotiate the terms of your sublet or assignment, and fill your space with a responsible tenant!

For those of you looking for a space:

STEP 1

Search DitchTheSpace.com to find the perfect space, based on location, price, features, and time left on the lease.

STEP 2
