Hi Somewhat Simple readers! It’s Rhonda from home.made. and I’m back with another simple DIY project for you! I don’t know about you, but my front entry is often neglected because it’s not the primary entrance for my family… and because of that, it’s not exactly sending a warm welcome to our visitors. My tired old doormat was ready for a makeover that would invite guests to wipe their feet and come on in, so a DIY spray painted doormat was in order!
If you’re not convinced of the power of spray paint, you will be a believer soon. This is the what the doormat looked like in its former life:
Nice, right? Now tell me, does this mat really send the message “Welcome Friends”? I think not. Luckily, that was easy to fix with some spray paint and painter’s tape. After a thorough cleaning of the doormat with a hand sweeper, I sprayed a coat of primer over the mat and allowed it to dry. Next, I free-handed the word “hi” in the lower right corner with painter’s tape. Easy-peasy.
Lastly, two coats of a sunny yellow spray paint were applied over the mat and taped message and allowed to dry. The final result? This fun new way to greet my visitors:
Since I had the spray paint on hand, this project didn’t cost me a dime so not only do I have a new DIY spray painted doormat that sends a sweet message to my guests, but it was certainly a project that was easy on my pocketbook!
Have I convinced you yet of the power of a little bit of paint?
