This post brought to you by NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you have chronic dry, itchy, red and inflamed skin, this post is for you! Today we’re talking about Eczema- the cause and the treament- so pull up a seat and let’s get started!
What is eczema?
In a healthy state, the external layer of our skin acts as a protective barrier against the elements. But sometimes the skin has a deficiency that allows moisture to escape that external layer, thus causing chronic dryness and visable rashes that are both uncomfortable and unsightly. This condition is known as eczema.
What does eczema look like?
Eczema shows up as patches of red, leathery, somewhat blistery-looking skin. The skin is almost always tender, itchy, dry, and rough.
Typically children have excema on their face, area around their eyes, inside their elbows and on the back of their knees. Adults usually find Eczema on their neck, elbows and on the back of their knees.
Common triggers:
• Irritants like soaps and fragrances
• Wool
• Rough textures
• Cold and dry weather
• Heat and sweating
How eczema and dry skin affect my family:
I didn’t realize how fortunate I was to have pretty tough skin! Growing up I never suffered from skin sensitivity of any kind and with the exception of the occasional hormonal break out, my skin is usually free from blemishes. But 3 of my 4 children got their dad’s sensitive skin, and because we live in a place that has pretty extreme weather conditions, we deal quite often with rashes caused by skin sensitivity.
But my family is not alone in their skin battles: it’s estimated that eczema affects 35 million Americans!
Tips for managing eczema this fall and winter:
“Managing eczema is often a combination of smart choices and a good routine. The goal of management is to maintain healthy skin, avoid flares, and when symptoms do occur, quickly relieve them with a product designed for skin with eczema. It’s important to remember that even if you aren’t experiencing a flare, you should continue to practice good skin care in order to keep your skin healthy.” (source)
Here are some things you can do at home to help keep your eczema under control:
1. Moisturize daily.
2. Avoid known triggers, such as perfumed soaps and stressful conditions.
3. Bathe regularly to hydrate the skin, remove dirt and germs, and provide relaxation.
4. Stay cool to decrease sweating, which can cause irritation and itch.
5. Use a humidifier to prevent drying
6. Wear soft, breathable fabrics such as cotton.
Products to use:

I was pleasantly surprised with the scent of the products I tried- I am not a huge fan of smelly ointments and NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™ is fragrance free- which is a big bonus since I usually pick my lotions and creams by scent first, then reputation! It has to smell good or I won’t use it!

I would love own my own Neosporin Essentials kit. I would use it for my dry baby and dry husband. Oh, wait, what about me? I would totally use it all over my body too.

I’ve had “lizard” skin all my life… it is only recently that I was finally diagnosed with eczema! Now my poor kids have it too. The dryness and itchiness are unbearable at times
We would definitely put the Neosporin Essentials to good use!
my skin is super sensitive so would love to try it.. thanks so much!
This would be such an aweome kit to have. I don’t have eczema but my youngest son does and boy does he suffer from it. I would LOVE to try their body wash on him! Thanks for the chance to win.
I have horrendous eczema on my hands and have occasional breakouts on my arms and leg. I’d love to try something that would be a “maintenance” routine for the times when it’s all calm enough that I don’t have to use heavy-duty steroid creams.
Both my daughters (3 yrs and 5 months) have eczema on their back & legs. I would love the Neosporin kit to help them relieve the irritation of eczema & have soft, smooth skin again.
I have struggled with eczema since I was two and am always trying some new prescription. I get things under control just to have it come back. I need to work on preventing the re-occurrence. Since I had kids my hands have been the worst. I am embarrassed to let people see the raw red skin.
I can hardly believe it doesn’t smell at all though??
For my son! He’s two and has the worst dry skin on his upper legs. He’s constantly scratching on them. We’ve tried all kinds of lotions and creams, but this is the first time I’ve seen Neosporin’s line of products. We’d love to give them a try and (hopefully) get some relief. Thanks!
My poor daughter has a terrible case right now, on her legs, arms and back. Poor kid is tortured and as a teenager, concerned about her appearance too
On my to do list today was to find some ways to help her so I am glad I found this.
I have eczema so I think Neosporin would be great to try.
huh, i didn’t know there was something as simple as this. i have what i call my “winter hands” aka eczema in the winter. i’ve been using this all natural stuff i bought on etsy, but it definitely has a smell to it. i’d like to try this, and i’m glad to know it’s out there. thanks!
I would love to try this for my hands
I have rough and dry hands, but my girls both have eczema. We can definitely use this!

Because seasonal allergens are kicking in – I picked up my Christmas tree tonight and already the eczema patch on my ring finger has spread up my hand. On the upside, the eczema on my hands doesn’t itch (unlike the spots inside my elbows), but it is dry and looks gross and my boyfriend does not appreciate me loading up my hands with petroleum jelly night after night with no improvement.
I’m glad Neosporin is branching out – I love their antibiotic ointment too.
I would love to try these new products on my sweet 2 year old son who has suffered with eczema since he was 2 months old. We live in Northern England where the wind and cold during the winter really cause his skin to flare up. If these products work anything like Neosporin antiobiotic ointment, then I will be a believer. Thanks for the chance to win!
I have such a problem with cracks on my heels in the winter and go through a lot of products. This win would really help out since it’s a product I don’t always find. Thanks for the giveaway.
I have a small case of exzema on my neck and would love to try it out! Thanks for the opportunity!
I would love to have a Neosporin Essentials Kit! It would be so helpful for my flaky skin. It would also be super useful for my mom’s exzema
My skin dries really easily and so does everyone’s in my family. This would be a great giveaway to win!
It would help with almost everyone in the family. Especially the little baby who has horrible skin and a little spot on her hand that I just can’t seem to get to disappear.
I would love to win the Neosporin kit for my 22 year old daughter. She has battled eczema since a child. It breaks my heart to see her try to cover up her patches with band aids so people won’t see them. She doesn’t complain, yet I know she would love to find a product that would work, without steroids. Thanks for considering her as a winner.
My 2 year old suffers from eczema. We are usually on the ball using preventative measures, but he occasionally has flare ups, so the anti-itch cream would be fantastic. I’m sensitive to smells, so being fragrance free is an added bonus.
I already put Neosporin on everything so I think this would be awesome!

I think Neosporin Essentials would be great for my skin because it doesn’t contain any harsh additives yet still gts the job done. Would love to try it!
I would love to try Neosporin Essentials! I have not found anything that relieves my dry skin but that is natural and doesn’t clog up my pores. Thanks for the great giveaway!
It would be great for me because I actually have eczema and the winter is here causing havoc on my skin. The winter is when mine breaks out the most and it is already driving me crazy now! I have tried so many other things and nothing has worked yet. Thanks!

I suddenly had eczema like symptoms on my face and the face wash / cleanser I had been using for years started agitating it even more. I tried several other brands meant for sensitive, eczema prone skin, everything would worsen it. Finally I came to know of Made from Earth products. None of their products agitate my skin. Started using the Aloe & Jojoba Therapy and the Green Tea Cleanser. My face is completely clear and healthy now. I have seen a major improvements. It reduced redness, itchiness and breakouts.
