Let’s Talk About Getting Lucky!

Luck (n.) :

good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance

I certainly do not consider myself a lucky person.

I wouldn’t say that I am an un-lucky person, but I could probably count the number of things I’ve won or happened upon in my life on 1 hand.

And I’m not talking about being blessed, ’cause that is different and I am super blessed.

I’m talking about being lucky- winning something, finding something, doing something awesome or out of the ordinary.

Trying to think of a time when luck was on my side just made me draw a blank. A big blank. For a long time.

I asked my friends on Facebook to help me remember a time I was lucky. Their ideas had me thinking up stories and wondering if that time I found money on the sidewalk was real or if I just made it up in my head.

I asked my husband if he remembered the last time I got lucky. He answered that question probably how your husband would answer that question- I’ll just leave it at that. {I should’ve re-worded the question for him. My fault.}

I thought to myself that if I wasn’t in a different time zone than my best friend and it wasn’t already so late at night, I’d give her a call- surely she could help me remember a time I had luck on my side.

And then it hit me.

My best friend and I have been great friends since high school. We have some great memories of zero period in the attendance office, our trip to Lake Mead, writing our missionaries and more. And, as LUCK would have it, we married brothers less than 2 weeks apart. Which means my best friend is also my sister-in-law.

How lucky am I???????

Some of you might know this girl- Becca, from Blue Cricket Design.

Becca and I are still as close as ever and I love this girl to death!

Our kids are cousins and they love each other! My son Ethan and her daughter Macy are best buddies even though we live states apart.

Not too many people can say that those late-night chats with their best friend at sleepovers about boyfriends and future kids ever came true. But Becca and I talked about how fun it would be to be related years before any of us said “I Do.”

I’m so stinkin’ lucky to have her as my friend and my sister-in-law. Seriously- you should all be jealous of me! :)

Now, tell me the last time luck was on YOUR side!
