hello there somewhat simple fans. i’m excited to come and share this tutorial with all of you.

my name is Vanessa and i’m the gal behind the blog and shop V and Co. on my blog i share tutorials, decorating before and afters, and funny moments of two city folk who have moved and now find themselves living in the middle of nowhere.

but enough about me, lets get on with the tutorial shall we?

my daughter loves bows in her hair. i love fabric. hence the fabric hair bow was created.

materials needed:

*one fabric square of 5 by 5 inches

*one single prong hair clip (found in beauty supply stores)

*gross grain ribbon

*hot glue gun

first take your 5 by 5 inch square and cut a strip of 1 1/2 inches. put this strip aside.

fold over your rectangle, right sides together

and sew the three sides shut. make sure you back stitch your ends.

clip off corners.

next pinch up one side of your rectangle you just sewed.

cut a little slit in the back.

turn inside out.

with a pin make sure your corners come out completely.

top stitch around the whole rectangle.

scrunch down your rectangle like so.

and place a pin in place

now sew your bow by starting at the top of your bow and going through all the layers to get to the bottom. do this a couple of times to make sure it’s secure. tie it off with a knot.

now that little bit of fabric left is going to be the strip of fabric that will make the middle part of the bow.

you are going to fold it over once.

and sew down the side of it. just like the picture above.

next you are going to “move” the seam to the bottom of your strip

next iron down your strip, with the sewn section on the bottom so it wont show when you place it on your bow.

now we’re going to work on the hair clip part. get some grossgrain ribbon, and hot glue gun.

place a dab of hot glue on the bottom of the hair clip like the picture above.

place dabs of hot glue where you would like for the ribbon to stay put. i wanted the ribbon to fold in the crease so i placed hot glue dabs on the prongs and pressed my ribbon on the glue.

make sure you bring the ribbon over the top part of the clip and plave hot glue dabs along the way. cut off excess ribbon. (i left the bottom part of the clip bare so it grabs onto the hair better.

so now you have all the parts done to complete the bow

next you are going to attach the bow onto your hair clip. i like to sew mine on, but you can easily hot glue gun it as well.

now cut down your srtip a little so that it fits nicely around your bow and tucks under the clip.

hot glue into place and you are done!

make one for every outfit!

i hope you enjoyed my tutorial. please feel free to come and check out all my other tutorials on my blog and in my shop! thanks steph for letting me come over for the day!fabric bow
