I always have trick-or-treaters that seem to knock on my door long after the candy is gone. Every year I hope people will understand that my dark porch means we are done passing out candy… and yet not everyone always understands that!
This sign for trick or treaters was linked to one of my link parties in 2010 and I wanted to re-share it with all of you today. It comes from Emily at Finding My Aloha (her site is fabulous, by the way!) and she has it available as a free download.

can't believe I never thought of that. We end up having to turn off all the lights on the inside of the house and "hide" upstairs so that they stop ringing the doorbell {so as not to wake my sleeping pumpkins}. Isn't it the simple things that change our lives the most
Neat Idea. We live in an area where no one even trick or treats. I've had the lights on and every year we have candy, and one Year I even had a big sign outside about having candy here, and still, no trick or treaters.
Thanks for finding and posting this. What a great idea! I'm off to print it out…
That's awesome! Way better than my husband's idea…
(put an empty candy bowl on the front porch with a sign that says, take as much as you want)
Cute! That is a great idea!
BTW- Our Christmas Giving Giveaway Event kicked off this morning. Hope you will consider joining the fun, maybe by linking a giveaway of your own??! Come by and check it out! We'd love to have you Stephanie!
This is great! I could've used this sign this year…we ran out this year! Thanks for sharing!! I'm your newest follower
I have always wrote a sign that said “sorry we’re out of candy!” … and shut off the lights, but never thought to make a nice one ahead of time.
Growing up we always knew that if the porch light was off then no candy! Well apparently this generation doesnt know that! haha
Last year I turned off the lights and people continued to knock for 2 hours!!!!
Def going to use this sign this year – thanks!
