Power to Her- Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

Refinements_gotham_5Walmart made a 5-year commitment (through 2016) to source $20 billion from women-owned businesses. As a part of this commitment, they recently launched  Empowering Women Together, an online destination that gives shoppers who want to buy unique and interesting products the opportunity to do so while supporting small women-owned businesses around the world.

At launch, Empowering Women Together will offer more than 200 items from 19 businesses in nine countries. Products include jewelry, home accessories, paper mache, iPad and laptop cases, coffee and tea sets and specialty foods from Peru, Rwanda, Kenya, Haiti, Cambodia and Nepal, America and Canada.

By purchasing these products, consumers can empower the women behind these companies, creating new jobs to improve their own lives and the lives of their families and communities.

Here is a short 2-minute video that I love with a little more info and insight to how this program works. (Ps. I want one of the clutch handbags they show on here, they are so fun!)
