Uploading Larger Pictures in Blogger

Note: This tutorial is for use in the old Blogger editor.

One of the most commonly asked questions we get as blog designers is: “How do I upload pictures to blogger in a larger size than the default blogger sizes?”

With this method, your pictures are hosted right through blogger (rather than a photo hosting site like photobucket), which means your readers can still click on each of your pictures to get a better look! It also takes only half the time because you don’t have to resize your images before they are uploaded or have them hosted on a secondary site.

So here’s what you do:

  1. Hi! It took me FOREVER to figure this out!! I’m no blog expert or anything but I wanted to share an easy method that I found!

First login to blogger, then from the dashboard go to settings, then under the basics tab scroll down to the bottom where it says “Global Settings”. Then where it says select post editor, click the Updated Editor and then save settings. Now when you go to a new blog post, the editor will look different but when you upload pictures, you have the option to make them sm, med, lg, ex-lg, and original size! Plus it has other great features too!

Just thought I’d share this with you in case you didnt’ know about it already. It is way easier than having to adjust the HTML code :) And if you already know this, then forget everything I said! hehe ;)

  4. Thanks for tips on enlarging photos. Do you find that in enlarging them your picture doesn’t appear on the blogroll because of its size? When I enlarge them past 500 width it seems that only the post name and the text appears but not the 1st picture of your post?

    Thanks,

    Abby

    • Hmmm… I have no idea why it would do that? I looked at your blog and didn’t see a blog list. Are you talking about on your dashboard?

  6. If you go to Settings and change to Updated Editor, it is even easier. There is an XLarge option and an original size option!
