Video Games- Join the Conversation!

I’ve never been one who has liked to play video games.

I’d like to think that my brilliant mind simply finds it boring, but the reason is probably the fact that I’m really not any good at them and therefore don’t see the fun in it!

My 3 year old could probably beat me in just about any game out there, and what fun is that?!

My oldest son is 8 years old and just like most 8 year olds he LOVES video games! During the school year we have to limit his time to Saturdays only, otherwise he could quite possibly play XBox all day, every day!

The only exception to this rule is if dad gets home from work on a weekday and needs to “wind down” with a friendly (yet competitive) game of NHL Hockey- him vs. my 8 year old.

What used to be a cute father/son activity where my husband would eventually let the kid win has now turned into some serious competition. Ethan can hold his own and has won many games against his dad. The “smack talking” between the 2 of them is quite comical and it is always fun to see them play together.

A 33 year old against an 8 year old, each one taking turns winning the virtual Stanley Cup and each one earning bragging rights until the next game night.

  1. My husband and I both play video games- he’s a teacher and home during the summer, so we’ve played a round or two of Mario Kart against each other at least once a day. For the record, he kicks my butt. However, when my 11 month old wakes from his afternoon nap, he is especially whiney and clingy. He’ll only play independently if I’m sitting on the floor, and sometimes it lasts a really long time. I’ll break out Mario Brothers to keep myself from going totally crazy.
