My family spends quite a bit of time outside in the summertime, but because it is so stinkin’ hot here in Arizona, time spent outside is usually time spent getting wet- swimming, playing in the sprinklers etc. My kids come and go inside and out all day long sometimes!
Right by our back door, we have this little black table:
It’s purpose is supposed to be decorative- a few knick knacks and magazines placed in an orderly fashion. But here is what the table has turned out to be:
A shelter for all the sandals that get kicked off as the kids come in. And I say “kids” but I really mean everyone.
And to be honest, this picture was taken at a good time of the day- usually the sandals are overtaking the floor and they eventually get covered up by pool towels!
I needed a new way to organize the mess by my back door, and one day I stumbled across this fabulous chest from Kirklands and made it mine!
Not only is it BEAUTIFUL and it fits my space perfectly, it also serves a great function!
All those shoes…
…now have a place to stay in the top drawer.
But wait, there is more! Look at the inside of the chest:
The perfect spot for our towels and sunscreen! (This picture is a little deceiving- there are actually 6 towels in that basket, not 3. It is roomy!)
