Witch Finger Cookies are made with a buttery shortbread dough that melts in your mouth and tastes amazing! How can something look this spooky but taste so good?
15-20drops green food coloringor a few generous squirts of gel coloring
1-2tsp.red decorator gel or raspberry jam
28almond slices
Instructions
Beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond and vanilla extract.
Add in flour, baking powder and salt, then mix until combined.
Add green food coloring and mix until it reaches your desired shade of green.
Push down the dough from all sides of the bowl and cover the dough with plastic wrap so that the plastic is touching the dough. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 325 and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Roll a heaping tablespoon of dough into a finger shape, then place on a prepared baking sheet.
Using a toothpick, make several deep lines in the dough around the knuckles. Press your finger on the nailbed to make room for a finger nail after baking.
Continue with all remaining dough.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or just until the bottoms start to turn golden brown. Let cool.
Add a small dab of red gel or raspberry jam towards the back of the nailbed, then press a sliced almond on top, making sure the gel oozes out the sides.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
If using salted butter, use only a 1/2 teaspoon of salt
