These homemade pink velvet waffles are everything you need in a Valentine’s Day Breakfast – they’re easy, they’re festive, and they’re super delicious!

Valentine’s Day breakfasts don’t need to be complicated or Pinterest-level exhausting to feel special. In our house, the goal is simple: something festive enough to feel fun, easy enough that I’m not cranky, and delicious enough that everyone actually eats it. These pink velvet waffles check every box.
They start with my go-to buttermilk waffle recipe but with a few small tweaks that turn an everyday breakfast into a Valentine’s Day moment. The pink color makes them feel extra special without changing the flavor, which means picky eaters stay happy and moms stay sane.

How to Make Pink Velvet Waffles
INGREDIENTS –
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 6–8 drops pink food coloring
- Chocolate syrup, fresh berries, and whipped cream for topping
DIRECTIONS –
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In a medium bowl, whisk together the butter, buttermilk, vanilla, eggs, and food coloring.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Small lumps are okay. Let the batter sit for 5–10 minutes.
- While the batter rests, heat your waffle iron. Add the batter and cook according to your waffle maker’s directions. For my waffle iron, one cup of batter cooked for four minutes was perfect.
- Serve hot with chocolate syrup, fresh berries, and whipped cream.

Topping Ideas for Pink Velvet Waffles
If you’re making these for Valentine’s Day morning, letting everyone add their own toppings is half the fun and keeps breakfast relaxed instead of rushed.
I topped my waffles with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and fresh berries, and it was definitely a good choice! The sky is the limit as far as toppings go, though… I’m sure they’d be delicious with any kind of syrup or fresh fruit.
These waffles are definitely going to be part of my family’s Valentine’s Day tradition, and I hope you’ll try them too!

Is this recipe for a Belgian waffle maker??
It is.
Can I make the batter the night before?
I’ve always just made it a few minutes before making the waffles but I think it should work. If you try it, will you let me know how they turn out?
Does anyone know if you can bake these? I wanted to make these as sticks for my daughter’s preschool v-day party and I was going to use my pampered chef waffle stick pan. Advice? Baking temp??
Thanks!
