Cranberry Orange Sweet Bread
When it comes to holiday flavors, I always feel like cranberries get a little overlooked. Everyone focuses on eggnog, gingerbread, and peppermint around Christmas time, but cranberries are pretty great too! They add a ton of flavor to any dish, and they’re the perfect complement for other flavors like orange and almond.
This cranberry orange sweet bread is the perfect combination of flavors, and had a delicious and tender crumb. It’s the perfect dessert to bring to a party or to add to your holiday table. You can also bake it into smaller loaves to give as gifts to neighbors and co-workers!
Cranberry Orange Sweet Bread Baking Tips
- Using parchment to line the pan is one of my favorite tricks for a pretty loaf! If you let it overlap the bread pan on two sides, it’s super easy to lift the whole loaf out without it sticking to the pan. I love how golden brown the bread gets in the oven. You’ll know it’s done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Tossing the cranberries with the flour mixture before adding the liquids helps them stay suspended in the batter, so you get an even distribution of cranberries throughout the bread. I love the combination of tangy cranberries and sweet, tender, orange bread. This bread is so delicious!
- You could bake and serve fresh from the over, but why not add a delicious glaze to the top and make it even more fantastic? The tangy orange glaze is so easy to make and adds a bright pop of flavor to the sweet bread. It also makes it look even more festive and pretty!

- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla

for the glaze:
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

- In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, oil, vanilla, eggs and orange juice. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake 60-75 minutes, or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool 10-15 minutes.
- To make the glaze, whisk all glaze ingredients together. Drizzle over the slightly warm bread, and allow to cool before serving.
Hi, should there be eggs or is it correct as written?
Good catch and sorry for the typo! It should have two eggs, added at the same time as the buttermilk, oil, and orange juice. 😉
I will update the recipe card right away!
