Can’t decide what to have for lunch? A Ham and Jam Sandwich is packed with sliced ham, melted cheese, and sweet raspberry jam. It’s grilled to perfection on a brioche bun that tastes great and is so easy to make!
Here are a few more hot sandwiches we love – Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Crock Pot French Dip Sandwich, and Hawaiian Ham Sandwich << that’s my husband’s favorite!
This grilled ham sandwich was one of those recipes that happened on accident with some leftover ham and food from Christmas. I was looking for a quick meal that would use up some of the food in my refrigerator once the guests were gone, and this perfect little sandwich was the result!
This sandwich is similar to a Monte Cristo Sandwich, but it’s so much easier to make! No egg batter, no sticky syrup. Just delicious flavors in every bite!
While originally made with cranberry sauce, I now make it with raspberry jam. The jam gives the perfect touch of sweetness to an otherwise savory sandwich. It’s the perfect main dish for a brunch or lunch. Here is how to make it –
Hot Ham and Jam Sandwich Recipe
INGREDIENTS –
- Brioche Buns: Any bread will work, but the buttery sweetness of a brioche bun is amazing in this recipe.
- Butter: softened
- Sliced Ham: Fully cooked and heated through. (Put it in the microwave to warm it up if you have to.) You can also use turkey or bacon!
- Cheese: I like Swiss Cheese or Provolone, but cheddar, Pepper Jack, brie cheese or shredded Gruyère would be delicious, too!
- Raspberry Preserves: Strawberry jam and most other flavors are great, so use what you have!
- Options: Sometimes I’ll add some caramelized onions, sauteed garlic, dijon mustard, or fresh arugula, but only if I’m feeling extra fancy!
INSTRUCTIONS –
PREP. Preheat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cut brioche buns in half and spread butter on both cut sides.
TOAST. Toast the buns on the hot griddle for 1 minute, or until golden brown.
BUILD. Layer a slice of cheese, a slice of ham, and 1 tablespoon of jam on each of the bottom buns.
GRILL. Cover with a top bun and continue to grill until the cheese is melted. (If you are using a skillet, you will need to flip your sandwich occasionally to toast both sides of the bread.)
SERVE. Eat while warm and enjoy! You can serve these sandwiches with chips, fries, a light salad, or a cheese board.
