Shamrock floats are a festive St. Patrick’s Day drink recipe that everyone can enjoy. They’re perfect to make at home or for a school party. Filled with green sherbet, lemon lime soda and a special ingredient, you have to try this delicious green St. Patrick’s Day drink.
Green St. Patrick’s Day Drink
A couple years ago I was helping out in my son’s classroom for their St. Patrick’s Day party. I volunteered to bring drinks and decided to do something a little more fun and festive that just bringing in bottles of soda or juice boxes. I decided to take some inspiration from my popular Cupid Floats and make something just as fun but green!
That year I made these delicious green drinks by simply combining green sherbet with some lemon lime soda. However, this year I decided to spruce them up a bit and make them even better! This time I added a splash of pina colada mix that really makes this drink incredible!
How To Make A Festive St. Patrick’s Day Drink
This recipe is really about adjusting the ingredients to the size of the cup you’re making. When I made these for the class party, I had to reduce the amount of each ingredient because the cups were so small. Obviously, this isn’t rocket science, so I’m sure you’ll nail it.
- Fill your glass about 3/4 of the way to the top
- Add 2 scoops of lime sherbet
- Add a splash of pina colada mix
- Use half a strip of rainbow candy for garnish
- Cut off the ends of a green piece of licorice and use it as your straw

This is one of our favorite St. Patricks day traditions. My husbands family served these every year as he grew up and now we serve these to our family. I have never thought of using a green licorice straw to drink with though. That would makes this even a little bit more fun. I will have to try it this year, thanks!
