Chore Charts!

The Magnetic Chore Charts that I made a couple years ago for my kids have become one of the most popular projects on my site. It looks like moms everywhere are trying to teach their kids some responsibility and get some help around the house! That got me thinking about all the other great ideas out there that moms are using and I decide to do a post featuring these great ideas!

(First off, thanks to all of you who submitted pictures and links- this is going to make a great post!)

I received chore charts for kids of all ages and even some great charts for moms to use for themselves!

Here is what I gathered from everyone…
(click on links for better descriptions, tutorials, and free printables)

The first one I want to feature is an AWESOME Point System! I don’t have a picture of it, but you can view the documents on Imperfect Mom and print it yourself through Scribd.com. Seriously, you need to go check it out. Its awesome for kids of all ages.

“To Do” and “All Done” Cans
Tin Treats- Chores and Rewards all in one!
Element of Surprise! Pull one out and see what chore you get!

Movable Stars-  Do it and Done!

Clipboard Checklist

Spinning Daily Chores (another one shown for mom, but can be fun for kids too!)

And how cute is this?

Yep- it’s a chore chart! Look:

Lastly, I would totally kick myself for not sharing a bit about a super great company that you should all go check out for yourself!

I found this site a while back and was instantly in love with the idea, I just need my kids to get a little older before I can use it. I was reminded of this site last week when talking to my friend about this very post. I asked her what she used to help keep chores organized and she said, “My Job Chart dot com!” Her kids are 16, 10 and 7 and it works great for them! The best part about this great company is that it is all FREE!!! Amazing!
Basically you go online, set up a username and password for each person under your account and then assign some chores- daily (am & pm), weekly, monthly, whatever and whenever! Then, you can also set up point values for each chore. For example, “Brushing Your Teeth” might be worth 10 points, whereas “Babysit for mom and dad on their date night” could be 500. Your kids can go online, log in under their name and see what needs to be done each day. When they complete a chore, their points get totaled under their name and as parents, you can determine what to do with those points. My friend gives her kids a penny for every point they earn. I thought I would maybe have a reward like a later bedtime once they reached a certain number of points. Its all up to you and its all completely customizeable! It’s free, it simple, it is motivating for parents and kids, and it brings families together. Families can be happy working towards something and encouraging each other as well as rewarding each other… and it doesn’t get much better than that!

I hope you have all been just a bit more inspired today!
NOW GET TO WORK!!!

I have a paper chore chart for me on my fridge and I never use it! Maybe if I took one of these snazzy ideas I would actually want to get to work! Not to mention Kate is probably getting old enough to make her one, and I bet she'd love it! Thanks for sharing all the great ideas.

I am sad to say our chore chart is no more than two pieces of paper taped to the kitchen wall. Sigh! Have to try one of these.

I've seen a lot of those and I love them. We are doing a clipboard system, but I wish I would have thought about making it magnetic or dry-erase. Hmm…I wonder how I could alter it?? Thanks for the ideas!

Yes! We had a family meeting about chores tonight! I LOVE the popsicles sticks one… my 4-year old would grasp that really well. On the other hand, my older kids love clipboards and checklists.

Thanks for the great ideas! Watch out kids, I'm gonna use 'em!
