A Delicious Homemade Pizza
A couple of weeks ago, my family took a trip out to the local apple orchard and we brought home a bushel of apples that are now in my fridge and begging to be used! While making my dinner menu for the week, I tried to come up with a few recipes that used apples, and for our weekly homemade pizza night, this is the combination I came up with!
Apple and cheddar is a favorite flavor combo, but then I thought, “Why stop there? Let’s add bacon!” So there you have it – sweet, salty, and pungent…all in one. And it is awesome!
How To Make A Bacon Cheddar Pizza
Prep – Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Place your pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven while it’s preheating.
The Dough – You can start by making your own homemade pizza dough but I like using a store-bought dough to keep it simple.
Apples – You’ll want to remove the core of a large apple and then cut it into very thin slices. One of my favorite tools that makes it super simple is this apple peeler.
Compile – Roll the dough out into a circle big enough to mostly cover your pizza stone. Spread the barbecue sauce over the dough. Then add a layer of cheese followed by the apple slices and bacon. Finally, top with a little extra cheese and then toss it in the oven.
Bake – Cook the pizza for about 10-15 minutes. The cheese should be melted and the crust should be a golden brown color.
