All the flavors from a classic s’more, but simple to put together and practically mess-free! These s’mores in a jar are a perfect summer treat!
We have plenty of fun activities you can do with your kids this summer. Here are a few of our favorites: Mary Poppins Family Movie Night, Family Time Capsule Free Printables, and Butterfly Life Cycle Activity.
I love a classic s’more in the great outdoors! Crunchy graham crackers, melty chocolate, toasty marshmallows… my mouth is watering just thinking about them! And as much as I love a good S’Mores Buffet year-round, Arizona summers are HOT, and the nights don’t cool down enough to make bonfires outside comfortable.
Lucky for us and any other residents without ideal temperatures, these S’mores in a jar are made indoors! They are super delicious, waaaay less sticky, and they’re a great way to feed a crowd at your summer parties all at the same time!
Here’s how to make them –
How To Make S’Mores in a Jar
INGREDIENTS –
- crushed graham crackers – I like to use a mixture of both finely crushed and bigger chunks
- melted butter
- mini marshmallows
- chocolate bar, chopped into small pieces
- 4oz Mason jars
DIRECTIONS –
PREP. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
MIX. Mix graham cracker crumbs and butter in a small bowl until well coated.
LAYER. Add about 2 tablespoons of the graham cracker mixture to the bottom of each jar.
Add an even layer of chocolate to each jar on top of the graham cracker crumb layer – about 4 Hershey squares or 2 tablespoons.
Add 1/4 cup of marshmallow as the third layer.
BAKE. Place the six jars on a cookie sheet and bake for 5 minutes until the chocolate starts to melt (it won’t be completely gooey) and the marshmallows start to brown.
BROIL. Switch the oven to the broiler and toast the marshmallows for about 30 seconds. These will burn fast, so watch them carefully!
COOL. Let them cool enough to handle them, but serve warm.
SERVE. Sprinkle with any leftover graham cracker crumbs or chocolate. Grab a spoon and dig in!
OPTIONS. The marshmallows might start to sink as they cool. Feel free to add more marshmallows to the top and broil again or use a kitchen torch to toast them.
If chocolate candies aren’t your favorite, swap out the chocolate bar with chocolate pudding. (I LOVE this method!)
